Trauma is more common than most people realise – approx. 60% of men and 50% of women
experience at least one trauma event in your lifetime, according to National Centre for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Trauma takes a heavy toll on the body and the brain. When the body absorbs and anticipates trauma,
you are more likely to experience hyperarousal, hypervigilance, and sometimes an inability to calm
yourself. At the same time, your body responds by dampening or closing down sensations (disassociation). You may then, avoid stimuli and your body can become numb or feel disconnected.

Massage therapy can be difficult for some people who have suffered past trauma or are dealing with current trauma. Yet massage is a very beneficial support to learn to relax through your body and
settle your mind. Massage treatments can take place fully clothed in a comfortable massage chair or massage table with appropriate draping and sensitivity.

With over 20 years of massage therapy work plus continual training since obtaining my massage
diploma, I have extensive expertise in massage. My passion is helping to free you from aches and
pains specific to trauma held in your body and to help you to feel more relaxed mentally and emotionally.

Because I care deeply about my clients, I take the time and care to really listen and understand your
unique issues, always aiming for most beneficial results for you. I believe a big part of good health is to empower you with knowledge and a plan of care to enhance your own healing processes.

Massage for trauma therapy helps my clients to learn how to calm their minds and regulate their
